The Appointed Imaam has the First Right to Lead the Taraaweeh salaah

Q: Salaah-481: I am the Imaam of a Masjid and have made the condition before being appointed that I shall lead the Taraaweeh salaah. The trustees now wish to appoint another Haafidh to lead the Taraaweeh salaah in my presence. Is this correct? Who has the first right to leading the Taraaweeh salaah?

Answer: The Imaam has the first right. Another person may be appointed to lead the Taraaweeh salaah only if the Imaam is incapable of doing so or if he permits it.
