Q: 100 – Title: Is it permissible for me to go for Hajj before I settle my debts?
Question
I took a loan one year ago for a tenor of five years. With the loan amount, I bought a car and ran it for around eight months. Recently I sold the car. Can I go for Haj with the amount received from selling the car or do I have to settle my loan first? Need to mention that I am solvent enough to continue my loan for the remaining periods. I am eager to do Haj this year.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullahi wa-barakatuh.
If you continue fulfilling the arrangement made with your creditor to pay your loan to him, it is permissible for you to perform your Hajj this year. [1]
And Allah Ta’ala Knows Best
